The Mission

Ancient Knowledge is a free public library of Bharat’s sacred texts and history — built to make the real, full shape of the tradition legible to anyone curious enough to look, without asking them to already know where to start.

What’s here

Vedas and epics, philosophy and Purāṇas, devotional hymns and mantras, the technical sciences, and the real dynastic and civilizational history of the subcontinent — organized the way the tradition actually organizes itself, not flattened into a single reading list. What’s catalogued today sits alongside what belongs in the library but isn’t digitized yet, shown honestly rather than hidden.

Why it’s free

This library carries no subscription and asks nothing of a reader beyond their attention. It’s kept running by minimal, unobtrusive advertising and by voluntary donations from readers who find it worth supporting — never enough of either to get in the way of reading.

On the texts

Original Sanskrit and other source-language verses are reproduced as transmitted. Translations and commentary are prepared for this library, drawing on established scholarship and tradition. Nothing here is invented where a source is silent — an empty shelf stays empty rather than being papered over.

Still growing

This is an early, working library, not a finished one. New divisions, new works, and new translations are added over time — always the same way: cited, honest about what isn’t included yet, and free.
