Terms of Service

Last updated: April 13, 2021

These Terms of Service govern your use of Ancient Knowledge (“the Site”). By using the Site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Site.

What this Site is

Ancient Knowledge is a free, public reference library of Indic scripture, philosophy, devotional literature, and history, presented in Hindi and English. It is not a religious authority, not a substitute for study under a qualified teacher, and not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice on any matter it happens to touch.

Use of content

Original-language scripture reproduced on the Site (Sanskrit, Awadhi, and other source texts) is public-domain material, transmitted as received. Translations, commentary, and editorial text are prepared for this library, drawing on established scholarship and tradition. You may read, quote, and link to the Site’s content for personal, educational, and non-commercial purposes. Bulk copying, scraping, or republishing the Site’s content elsewhere — in whole or in substantial part — is not permitted without prior written permission.

Donations

The Site accepts voluntary donations to support its upkeep, processed by a third-party payment gateway (see the Privacy Policy). A donation is not a purchase of goods or services, does not create membership, account, or subscriber rights, and does not entitle the donor to any particular content, feature, or outcome. Refund handling is described in the Refund & Cancellation Policy.

Advertising and third-party services

The Site is supported in part by advertising served through Google AdSense and by payments processed through Razorpay. These are independent third parties; their own terms and policies govern their part of the interaction, and Ancient Knowledge is not responsible for their content, practices, or availability.

No warranty

The Site is provided “as is.” We take care to source and cite material accurately, but scripture translation and historical scholarship both involve genuine interpretive judgment, and we make no guarantee that any translation, description, or historical claim on the Site is complete, error-free, or the only valid reading. If you find an error, we’d like to know about it — see Contact.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Ancient Knowledge and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Site.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Site changes. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised terms.

Governing law
